Illustrating the taboo

Facilitating an open dialogue around sensitive topics, Taboe Talk brings stigmas and experiences within Dutch society into sharp focus. KPN and NRC created a limited podcast series discussing social and health related topics through raw and eye opening conversations. Subject matter including cyber bullying, anorexia and the struggles of online dating are intimatley discussed between experts and those who have experienced these first hand. Illustrated visuals bring these taboos to life within a story led campaign.

Bringing difficult
subject matter to life

Vividly detailed illustrations bring life to the specific elements of each taboo topic. Despite the difficult nature of the subject matter, vibrant colours and playful motion were incorporated to energise campaign visuals and entice a wide audience to join the conversation.

Compositions are packed with elements that build the story around the issue, with character given to both literal and more metaphorical illustrations.
